Odell Beckham Jr. injury update from Miami Dolphins creates more questions

The situation between the Miami Dolphins and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been rather mysterious.

Beckham, still on the physically unable to perform list (PUP), isn’t going to practice this week, despite progressing in the right direction.

So said Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel at his week-opening presser , who added that the team isn’t “rushing the process” and that the idea is to have Beckham “at our best when our best is required.”

The thing is, nobody seems to know the specific nature of Beckham’s injury in the first place and specific injury reporting isn’t a thing until the regular season. He’s effectively been on the shelf with an undisclosed issue since signing with the team this offseason.

Adding another layer of intrigue to the whole situation is the fact that Beckham recently went on social media and got into a war of words with Dolphins fans who expressed concern about his injury.

There’s an angle where Beckham gets activated the week of the season, practices well and all turns out well as he works with and alongside Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

But even quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently noted that it’s hard to see how the offense shapes up with Beckham until they can actually rep together on the field. And how long it takes to develop the proper timing very much remains to be seen.

So while McDaniel and Co. don’t seem all that concerned, the vagueness around Beckham’s injury and the continued pushbacks of his full-blown arrival will keep fans and the media buzzing.
