The Houston Astros have completely turned their season around.

There was a time when it seemed like the Astros were going to finish toward the bottom of the American League standings and possibly even be sellers ahead of the 2024 Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Houston had a rough start to the 2024 campaign but completely turned the season around and currently sits atop the American League West with an impressive 68-56 record.

The Astros may need to make some tough decisions when the season ends involving some of the club's core players. Houston has a chance to make one more run this season with its current group but it could use some bullpen help.

One player who could make a lot of sense is old friend Héctor Neris. He shined last season with the Astros and had a 1.71 ERA in 71 appearances. He joined the Chicago Cubs ahead of the 2024 season but recently was designated for assignment and cleared waivers, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers.

"Chicago Cubs news: Reliever Héctor Neris was DFA'd and has already cleared waivers, sources tell ESPN," Rogers said. "He's being released. Jack Neely, acquired from the (New York Yankees) in the Mark Leiter Jr trade, is being called up to take his place."

Neris clearly had success last season with Houston and could go a long way in bolstering the club's bullpen down the stretch this season as it looks to make another run to the World Series.
