Dodgers superstar has scary injury but will attempt to play through it

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be an interesting team to watch down the stretch.

Los Angeles currently has the most wins in baseball with 74, but there still are some serious question marks swirling around the club. The Dodgers have been bitten by the injury bug in a major way this season and clearly aren't at full strength right now.

The Dodgers had another scare recently too as superstar first baseman Freddie Freeman was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his finger. On the bright side, though, he will attempt to play through it, according to Yahoo Sports' Jason Owens.

"Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Freddie Freeman has a hairline fracture in his right middle finger, but plans to play through it," Owens said. "Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced the injury Monday night. Freeman suffered the injury while fielding a ground ball in Saturday's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Initial X-rays came back negative, but Freeman sat Sunday's series finale against (the St. Louis Cardinals)."

Freeman's injury certainly will be one to monitor moving forward. The Dodgers have done a great job at navigating injuries throughout the season, but if Freeman's gets worse then that could be trouble.

The eight-time All-Star unsurprisingly is having yet another great season and losing him could significantly alter Los Angeles' chances of winning the World Series in 2024. Los Angeles certainly should be monitoring Freeman's injury closely over the next few days and shouldn't let him push himself too much right now with the playoffs not far away.
