Mike McCarthy plans to almost completely devalue himself to Cowboys

There have been ample opportunities for Dallas Cowboys fans to question Mike McCarthy during his tenure as the head coach of the NFL franchise.

Now comes another (firmly tongue-in-cheek) reason to wonder what, exactly, McCarthy actually does as the skipper.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, McCarthy is considering giving up play-calling duties on Saturday when the Cowboys play their third preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

So who will be potentially calling the offense this time around? None other than starting quarterback Dak Prescott.

Archer noted that Prescott was tasked with doing exactly the same during the team's last preseason game in 2023, and he shared that McCarthy "believes it helps Prescott see the game from a different perspective."

Based on the way things developed for Prescott and the 'Boys last season, this isn't the worst idea in the world. The veteran signal-caller was an MVP finalist and had a phenomenal season passing for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and just nine interceptions.

But it really does make one wonder what else McCarthy could possibly do to make himself even more expendable. Time will tell.
