Ohio State tops FOX college football analyst’s preseason Top 25

The Buckeyes are entering another season filled with high expectations and national championship aspirations. A strong offseason haul, added to a very talented roster, has many believing Ryan Day can bring Ohio State its first national championship in a decade.

FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt has the Scarlet and Grey as his preseason No. 1 team in the country, and he compares their season to that of their archrival last year.

"If you could put a 'championship or bust' mantra on any two teams, it would be Ohio State and Georgia," Klatt said on "The Joel Klatt Show." "They were my number one team in the preseason, Ohio State, because they're not just talented, but they've got veteran talent. All these guys coming back, it just smells so similar to what happened last year at Michigan."

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back TreyVeyon Henderson highlight the returning talent on this Buckeye team. Egbuka will have a much bigger role with former Biletnikoff winner Marvin Harrison Jr. off to Arizona, while Henderson looks to shine in new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly's run-heavy offense.

Ohio State acquired some key pieces in the transfer portal on both sides of the ball. Kansas State transfer QB Will Howard was just named the starter for the team's Week 1 game against Akron, while Ole Miss transfer running back Quinton Judkins hopes to complement Henderson in the backfield.

On defense, the Buckeyes bring in one of the top players in the portal with former Alabama safety Caleb Downs. During his lone season in Tuscaloosa, Downs finished with 70 solo tackles, two interceptions, and three pass deflections. He will certainly play a vital role in an experienced Ohio State defense.

We'll see if the Buckeyes' new moves this offseason can help them take the next step. If this team can play to its full potential every game, it will be tough for teams to take them down.
