Jared Goff received a massive extension this offseason to remain the Detroit Lions ’ quarterback for the foreseeable future. The extension came after Goff threw for 4,575 yards with 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2023, en route to leading the team to an NFC Championship Game appearance.

From a fantasy football standpoint, Goff finished the 2023 season as QB7 overall, per Fantasy Pros . Goff hasn’t missed a game since 2021 and has one of the league’s best wide receivers, so the impressive fantasy output makes sense.

Can Goff continue his recent success in 2024? Let’s identify what Goff’s ceiling and floor are for the upcoming NFL season.

    Jared Goff fantasy football outlook

    Ceiling: High-end QB1

    Floor: QB2

For the 2024 season, I see Goff as a worthwhile gamble for fantasy. With Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs, the QB has plenty of reliable targets.

The Lions’ offense was one of the league’s most explosive in 2023, and that should continue in 2024. Goff has an elite offensive line that keeps him upright and gives him time to find his open receivers. Goff has also only missed three games in three seasons with the Lions, which is crucial for putting up a big fantasy season.

Even in the worst-case scenario, Goff is still a player you’re going to want on your roster. If St. Brown and/or LaPorta misses any time, or if the team goes with a more run-heavy approach, Goff could slide down to QB2 territory.

In that case, I could see Goff finishing somewhere between QB12-18. But with an elite WR, elite TE, and elite offensive line, Goff is a very safe pick for fantasy players in 2024.
