Golden State Warriors and Stephen Curry need another star to be contenders

The Golden State Warriors will not win another championship with Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins as their second and third-highest-paid players . Jonathan Kuminga has developed into a really nice piece , and Buddy Hield is a solid pickup , but the team does not have nearly enough.

Stephen Curry is still good enough to win an NBA championship, but not with the roster he currently has around him. Curry was easily the best player for Team USA during the Olympics' semifinal and gold medal games, but there is a reason that LeBron James was still named MVP over the sharpshooter.

When Curry is not knocking down shots at his usual clip, he becomes much less effective. In order for the four-time champion to add another ring to his resume, he needs a top-tier second option to pick up the slack when his threes are not falling.

When a player of LeBron James's makeup is missing one part of their game, they can still dominate with something else. When Curry's most deadly weapon is not clicking on all cylinders, he does not have the same number of bullets to fire. An elite second option like Klay Thompson, who could heat up as quickly as Curry, is a must. Or even better, someone who can score at all three levels, like Golden State had in Kevin Durant.

This does not mean Curry is not still one of the most lethal players in the NBA because he is . At his best, no one is more of a threat to will his team to victory , but even more than most other superstars; he needs help when shooting the way he did through Team USA's first four games .

The national team had other all-world players to cover up the misses. The Warriors lack the ability to mask a poor performance from the NBA's all-time leader in three-pointers made.
