Colin Cowherd uses RGIII comparison to hot take Jayden Daniels over Caleb Williams

The Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams debate is only just getting started ahead of their rookie seasons.

Not all that long ago, one analyst argued that Daniels is actually in a better position to succeed than Williams due to the outlook of his Washington Commanders compared to the Chicago Bears.

Now Colin Cowherd entered the fray this week, saying that Daniels will win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award over Williams because of his ability as a runner and fit with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

Cowherd threw out a Robert Griffin III comparison, too.

“Now, Caleb Williams has better weapons,” Cowherd said . “So Jayden’s gonna have to move, he’s gonna have to run. I think that’s going to play well. He’s going to feel like RGIII did first year in Washington.”

Considering the Commanders have been shaky on the subject of Daniels actually learning to slide this summer, head coach Dan Quinn and others probably don’t want him running all that much, anyway.

But then again, that ability to extend plays with his feet or even take off downfield is part of the reason Daniels was the second-overall pick. And at LSU last year, his 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on an 8.4 per-carry average were a big part of his Heisman Trophy triumph.

In a way, it would be fitting for a Commanders organization that has so dramatically undergone an upheaval since the RGIII days to find themselves with Daniels enjoying similar highs as a rookie, only to handle things differently this time.
