Paul Finebaum Gives Take on Ryan Day's Future with Buckeyes

When it comes to The Ohio State Buckeyes, it is championship or bust. Each season they come in as one of the top teams in the nation with some of the best recruiting classes, so expectations are extremely high.

For head coach Ryan Day, he has met those expectations. With an overall record of 56-8 and two Big Ten championships, Day has the highest win percentage by an FBS coach since 2000.

Yet, that still is not enough for fans. For three straight years, the Buckeyes have lost to their rival up north, the Michigan Wolverines. Moreover, Day has a 2-3 record in bowl games and has only made the CFP title game once in a loss to Alabama in 2020.

While Day's regular season record is spectacular, it is the games that matter the most that he is falling short in, and fans are losing their patience.

On ESPN's Get Up show, commentator and analyst Paul Finebaum believes if Day continues the trend of losing important games this season, he will be out of the head coaching job at Ohio State, stating,

"If he loses to Michigan, which would be four in a row, and somehow gets bounced out of the playoffs... I think the decision could be to get rid of him."

Ryan Day arguably has one of, if not the, most talented rosters going into this 2024 football season. The stakes have never been higher, and only time will tell if the Buckeyes’ coach will complete the job.
