Dodgers could reunite with red-hot hurler this winter, per insider

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hoping to make some noise before the 2024 Major League Baseball season comes to an end.

Los Angeles has the star power to do so and is one of the favorites to win the World Series this year. There's a lot to like about this Dodgers team and they seem to find surprising ways to get even better.

The Dodgers have an extremely expensive and deep roster and yet it was one of the most active teams ahead of the trade deadline. Los Angeles needed some pitching help and made one of the biggest trades of the summer to bring Jack Flaherty to town.

He is having one of the best seasons of his career and will be a free agent at the end of the season. It's unclear where he will land, but MLB.com's Mark Feinsand called a reunion in free agency possible.

"Flaherty’s first dalliance with free agency didn’t go well a year ago, so he bet on himself with a one-year, $14 million deal with the (Detroit Tigers)," Feinsand said. "His bet paid off: The right-hander pitched well in 18 starts with Detroit before being dealt to the Dodgers prior to the Trade Deadline. In a relatively thin starting pitching market – albeit a top-heavy one – Flaherty should be able to land the multi-year deal he struggled to find last offseason. Potential fits: Dodgers, (New York Mets), (and) (Boston Red Sox)."

Clearly, the Dodgers will have some stiff competition to retain Flaherty's services. He will be one of the best pitchers on the open market but it sounds like Los Angeles at least will entertain the possibility of a longer partnership.
