Bears reportedly could make deal after missing on Matthew Judon

The Chicago Bears certainly can surprise some people in 2024.

Chicago overhauled a lot of the roster and seems to be in a great place heading into the new season. The Bears' offense could end up being great thanks to the additions of Caleb Williams, Keenan Allen, D'Andre Swift, and Rome Odunze.

While this is the case, they still could use a boost on defense. Chicago attempted to get a trade done with the New England Patriots for star defensive end Matthew Judon but missed out as he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons.

Some have wondered if the Bears could look to add another player to help on the edge now that they missed out on Judon and the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs made it sound like there is a chance they make a move.

"It’s not like Austin Booker did anything sensational since the Matthew Judon trade from New England to Atlanta was finalized, so no," Biggs said "I’d expect (Ryan Poles) to consider all opportunities. It doesn’t look like there is one on the horizon right now but you never know what is potentially turning the corner next week or the week after. It’s a position to keep in the back of your mind this season, for sure.

"People have talked about the possibility of a reunion with Yannick Ngakoue since the spring. I’ve maintained all along the presence of Ngakoue probably doesn’t change the need for the Bears. If they do re-sign him, it will be the first time Ngakoue plays for the same team in consecutive seasons since he began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2016-19. If the Bears do sign Ngakoue, it will have to be for a fraction of the $10.5 million he earned last season. "

The Bears are starting to run out of time with the 2024 NFL season just weeks away.
