Blue Jays listed as possible fit for Brewers slugger this offseason

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a very disappointing season.

After two consecutive years in which they secured a Wild Card berth, they are ultimately in last place in the American League East with a record of 59-67.

Though they are out of contention this year, that doesn't mean they won't try to bounce back in 2025. They could be in the market for some major upgrades.

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com listed them as a possible fit for shortstop Willy Adames.

The soon to be 29-year-old slugger is having a strong season with the National League Central leading Milwaukee Brewers. He is hitting .252 with 22 home runs, 85 RBI, 13 stolen bases, and a .784 OPS.

He likely will be the top shortstop available in free agency. A move such as this would give the Blue Jays an extra power bat to go with Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. However, this does complicate a few things.

With Bichette already entrenched as the starting shortstop, they might have to move Adames to second base. Or they could shift Bichette to that spot and give the shortstop position to Adames.

Either way, they'll receive an offensive boost if they are to sign Adames. The market for him will likely be very competitive this coming winter, and it will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays are one of the teams that shows interest in free agency.
