Man United offered England star as Chelsea transfer fire sales continue

Manchester United could make a late transfer window move for Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell.

United are rumoured to be looking for cover at left-back this season, with concerns over Luke Shaw's long-term fitness, and a lack of senior cover at Old Trafford.

Portuguese international Diogo Dalot, and new signing Noussair Mazraoui can both fill in as needed, but Erik ten Hag wants the pair to remain focused on their preferred right-sided role.

Reports from Talksport indicate as part of Chelsea last-gasp drive to sell players before the EPL transfer window closes on August 30, the Blues have reached out to United over Chilwell.

The England international was omitted from the matchday squad for Chelsea's 2-0 season opening defeat to Manchester City last weekend and Enzo Maresca has told the former Leicester City star he is not in his plans.

Chilwell is currently training alone at Chelsea, alongside fellow potential departure Raheem Sterling, and United could be offered a cut-price package of around £20m ($26m).
