49ers May Not Be Done Trading, Could Trade From This Position Group Soon

The San Francisco 49ers' roster clearly will look different when Week 1 action kicks off in a few weeks.

San Francisco will have to make some tough decisions over the next few weeks. Most of the chatter has been about the future of star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but the 49ers will have to make other difficult choices, as well.

There could be a trade or two on the horizon with the season quickly approaching and CBS Sports' Josh Edwards suggested that San Francisco could end up trading a cornerback away or cutting one over the next few weeks.

"Charvarius Ward is the crown jewel in San Francisco's secondary but a lack of depth and experience led to Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir, and Samuel Womack III picking up varying levels of playing time early in their careers," Edwards said. "The team drafted Renardo Green out of Florida State in the second round while Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin, and Darrell Luter Jr. compete opposite Ward."

Edwards put together a list of National Football League franchise's most likely position groups to trade or cut from over the next few weeks. He mentioned the 49ers' cornerback room because of the fact that there are a lot of players there right now and likely not enough roster spots to go around.

The 49ers' biggest question mark clearly is the future of Aiyuk right now but San Francisco clearly will have to make other moves as it trims down its roster. The cornerback group could be one to keep a close eye on over the next few weeks.
