Ex-Braves All-Star surprisingly available; Should Atlanta reunite?

The Los Angeles Dodgers certainly are busy right now.

Los Angeles has had to make a handful of surprising moves lately as the club starts to get healthier. The Dodgers have had to designate a few surprising players for assignment and did so once again on Thursday with outfielder Jason Heyward, according to FanSided's Robert Murray.

"Sources: The Dodgers have designated Jason Heyward for assignment," Murray said.

Heyward was selected in the first round of the 2007 Major League Baseball June Amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves and began his professional career in 2010 with the team. He shined in his rookie year with the Braves and earned his lone All-Star nod.

The five-time Gold Glove Award winner spent the first five seasons of his big league career in Atlanta and could make sense as a reunion candidate. The Braves have continuously been bitten by the injury bug this year and already have made some moves to add outfield depth but still could make sense for Heyward.

He hasn't had the season he hoped for from the plate so far, but slashed .269/.340/.473 last year with 15 home runs and 40 RBIs in 124 games. He's only appeared in 63 games so far this season and is batting just above .200 at the moment. There's a real reason to have hope that he can turn it around offensively down the stretch and the Braves should see if a reunion could work.
