Saquon Barkley welcomes fellow Penn State alum Jahan Dotson to Eagles

Two of Penn State’s most prolific playmakers are about to join forces on offense with the Philadelphia Eagles .

The Eagles acquired former first-round draft pick Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders on Thursday morning, landing the former Nittany Lions star for a swap of 2025 draft picks .

Dotson was welcomed to Philly by none other than Saquon Barkley, a fellow first-time Eagle and Penn State alum:

Dotson finished second in Penn State history in career and single-season receptions, according to Sports Reference . He set a school record with 242 receiving yards in a 2021 game against Maryland, and racked up 183 catches, for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns in 42 career collegiate games.

Barkley, of course, had his own historic run at Penn State. He finished his three-year career with school records for rushing TDs, total scores and all-purpose yards , and the New York Giants made him the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

While they didn’t play for Penn State at the same time — Dotson was a true freshman during the 2018 season — Barkley and Dotson have seen plenty of one another in the NFL arena. Dotson spent his first two pro seasons in Washington after the Commanders selected him No. 16 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. That the two former NFC East rivals are now teammates in Philadelphia is a fun twist of fate.

Dotson has yet to publicly comment on the trade, but he did repost a tweet from Chicago Bears pass rusher Montez Sweat: “Neva personal just business.”
