The New York Yankees will get some reinforcements from the injured list in the form of star infielder Jazz Chisholm.

Despite the fact that Chisholm was potentially going to be out until September with rest and rehab due to a UCL injury, the trade deadline acquisition is expected to make his return Friday.

According to multiple reports, first reported by Andy Martino of SNY , the Yankees plan to activate Chisholm from the 10-day injured list.

They already made a corresponding move, optioning infielder Oswald Peraza following Thursday's 6-0 series win over the Cleveland Guardians.

Chisholm himself said earlier this week he believed he would come off the injured list as soon as the 10 days were concluded while other reports highlighted a potential September return.

The player was correct in this instance, which is a huge boost to the lineup of the team with the best record in the American League entering Friday.

In the 14 games since he was acquired at the trade deadline , Chisholm was slashing .316/.361/.702 with a 189 OPS+, seven home runs, 11 RBI and five stolen bases in 61 plate appearances.

The Yankees are set to host the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series in The Bronx, starting Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET.
