New York Yankees legendary broadcaster John Sterling is enjoying retirement, but there's reportedly a chance he will make a cameo during the postseason.

According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic , Sterling is considering returning to call games during the postseason.

Sterling announced his retirement earlier this season in April citing the travel schedule as the biggest factor in his somewhat surprising decision after 36 years.

Marchand also reported that "initial indications from those briefed on discussions is that he would need to commit to all home and road playoff games."

Since Sterling stepped away from the booth earlier this season, the Yankees have used a combination of Rickie Ricardo, Justin Shackil and Emmanuel Berbari to call games alongside Suzyn Waldman.

If Sterling does return for a postseason run, he will resume retirement afterward, per Marchand.

The Yankees are expected to conduct a nationwide search for Sterling's replacement, including the trio calling games in his stead.
