NFL analyst suggests Las Vegas Raiders trade for Chicago Bears quarterback

The Las Vegas Raiders have some uncertainty at the quarterback position going into the 2024 campaign. They have already chosen veteran Gardner Minshew as their starter over Aidan O'Connell, but how that pans out remains to be seen.

While the Raiders are highly unlikely to add to their quarterbacks room ahead of the start of the season, one NFL analyst apparently believes they should at least consider it.

The Athletic's Ted Nguyen recently suggested the Raiders make a trade for Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent, who is currently slated to be the backup to Caleb Williams. He thinks the Raiders should offer up a fourth-round pick for the former undrafted free agent.

Bagent showed flashes of promise in 2023, appearing in five games (four starts) for the Bears and completing 65.7% of his passes for 859 yards and three touchdowns to six picks.

He has followed that up with a solid showing during the 2024 preseason.

Adding Bagent doesn't move the needle for the Raiders when you consider he's a bigger question mark than both Minshew and O'Connell, so a trade wouldn't make much sense for Las Vegas, especially if it involves sending a fourth-round pick.

The Raiders are going to roll with who they currently have. Minshew will get the ball first, but O'Connell will be waiting in the wings if he struggles.

A midseason trade is not out of the question if the Raiders are competing for a playoff spot but are being held back by their quarterback. But for that to happen, the Raiders would have to be getting a clear upgrade at the position.
