In honor of Kobe Bryant’s birthday (8/23) and Kobe Bryant Day (8/24), athletes have begun their now yearly reminiscing by showing their appreciation for the NBA legend. It has now been over four and a half years since we lost Bryant, and the love never seems to fade.

Scottie Pippen posted an image of the two Hall of Famers on X writing, “Kobe Bryant - a fierce competitor and a cherished friend. You are deeply missed.” In another post on Instagram, he wrote, “Kobe, you embodied hard work, dedication, and the spirit of a true champion both on and off the court. As a friend and father, your legacy continues to inspire.”

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty also showed his support by wearing a purple number eight Bryant jersey to the stadium this evening. The Dodgers organization always does its part to remember the LA icon and will give away Bryant jerseys this weekend during their game against the Rays.

Many others, including Magic Johnson , Caron Butler , and Pau Gasol , wished him a happy birthday on various social media platforms.
