    Red Sox rookie to make his first MLB start in middle game vs. Diamondbacks

    After dropping the series opener 12-2 on Friday night, the Boston Red Sox will host the Arizona Diamondbacks for the middle game of the series on Saturday at Fenway Park.

    For the matchup. Boston will send Kutter Crawford to the mound while Arizona will counter with Zac Gallen.

    Here's Alex Cora's lineup for Game 2:

    1. Jarren Duran CF
    2. Wilyer Abreu RF
    3. Triston Casas 1B
    4. Rafael Devers 3B
    5. Rob Refsnyder LF
    6. Masataka Yoshida DH
    7. Mickey Gasper 2B
    8. Connor Wong C
    9. Ceddanne Rafaela SS

    Crawford has been solid for Boston this year, posting a 4.25 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP while striking out 133 batters in his 25 starts. However, he's given up 29 total runs (all allowed) in his last six outings. Four Diamondbacks have recorded hits off of him in his career - Josh Bell (1-for-6 with an RBI), Randal Grichuk (1-for-2), Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (1-for-6) and Eugenio Suarez (1-for-4).

    Gallen has been good for Arizona in his 21 starts in 2024, posting a 3.85 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP while striking out 102 batters. However, he has a 4.64 ERA in his 10 starts since returning from a hamstring injury. Only two Red Sox have ever faced him in his career - Danny Jansen (1-for-2) and Tyler O'Neill (1-for-3).
