The Blues got their 2024/25 Premier League campaign off to a rough start as they were well beaten by Man City by a 2-0 score in their season opener, creating a number of chances but falling victim to their finishing woes of old. Nicolas Jackson came up empty with his big opportunity in front of net, while the rest of the squad managed just two other shots on target.
Wolves also fell 2-0 in their first match of the new season, beaten soundly by title hopefuls Arsenal who racked up 18 shots with which to pepper Jose Sa in goal. Matheus Cunha missed a big chance to get his side back in it off the bench, and new signing Rodrigo Gomes was hardly involved in his 75 minutes of action.
