The Buffalo Bills concluded their preseason with a loss to the Carolina Panthers, and the next time they take the field, it will be to play host to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. With final cuts coming, here is who shined in the preseason finale.

    RB Frank Gore Jr

Gore Jr. concluded the preseason with a 101 yard performance against Carolina and found the end zone for his first touchdown. And while the top two running back spots are locked up with James Cook and fourth-round pick Ray Davis holding those spots, Gore made a case for himself to crack the 53-man roster. His performance outshined that of Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans in any preseason game thus far, which will make the decision for Sean McDermott and the Bills that much tougher when deciding who to keep on the roster.

    QB Anthony Brown

After being force-fed Mitch Trubisky for two weeks, the Bills brought in Anthony Brown after Trubisky went down with a knee injury, and he already looks like he should be the primary backup to Josh Allen. He went 11-of-12 for 102 yards in his first action with the Bills, and was precise all afternoon. Ben DiNucci also deserves an honorable mention after a touchdown pass on 11-of-15 passing. Brown and DiNucci should be the Bills’ backups and they should strongly consider cutting bait with Trubisky.

    WR KJ Hamler

Hamler is doing all he can to earn a roster spot and showing the Bills how versatile he can be. He has played receiver, returner, and in Week 3 he took a handoff from the backfield 21 yards for a touchdown. If he doesn’t make the final roster, a practice squad spot surely awaits him.
