After a month-long journey through the bracket, the 2024 Leagues Cup final features a rematch of last year's MLS Cup final as the Columbus Crew host LAFC for not only a trophy but the right to a spot in next year's CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Less than a year ago, these two teams met with a season title on the line, and the Columbus Crew came out on top with a 2-1 victory. That will leave LAFC hungry for revenge in this Cup title match, with both sides eyeing a return to the league championship game as well later this fall.

Both teams progressed through the semifinals in emphatic fashion, with LAFC thrashing the Colorado Rapids 4-0 and the Crew taking down the Philadelphia Union by a 3-1 score.

The winner will also ensure themselves a spot in the Round of 16 of next year's continental competition.

Columbus Crew vs. LAFC lineups & team news

Helping the MLS title defense and Leagues Cup run for the Columbus Crew has been a clean bill of health, with only backup goalkeeper Evan Bush currently on the shelf for the Crew.

As a result, they have two CONCACAF internationals in Canadian Jacen Russell-Rowe and American DeJuan Jones coming off the bench amidst a very strong MLS squad.

Columbus Crew projected starting lineup (3-4-3): Schulte (GK) — Moreira, Camacho, Cheberko — Farsi, Zawadzki, Nagbe, Arfsten — C. Ramirez, C. Hernandez, Rossi.

LAFC are without Cristian Olivera due to injury, expected to return shortly after the conclusion of the Leagues Cup, but Timothy Tillman returned to the squad in the semifinal as an unused substitute.

Olivier Giroud has only just joined the club and came off the bench in the last two matches, playing the whole second half in the semifinal. He could potentially earn a start to spell one of the regulars on short rest, but with the LAFC attack clicking as it currently stands, he is likely just a bench replacement until he works his way into the rotation.

LAFC projected starting lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Murillo, Chanot, Long — Palencia, I. Sanchez, Atuesta, Hollingshead — Bogusz, Kamara, Bouanga.

Columbus Crew vs. LAFC prediction, betting odds & lines

    • Score prediction: Columbus Crew 3-2 LAFC

These two sides produce fireworks every time they meet, but the Columbus Crew have been nearly unstoppable the last two years. The Crew smacked LAFC 5-1 the last time they faced just over a month ago, giving them two straight wins over LAFC including last year's MLS Cup final.

At home, the Crew will be heavily favored, and rightly so.
