All you can really ask from any NFL preseason game is that your team comes out of it not having suffered any major injuries. The Seattle Seahawks did beat the Cleveland Browns last night 37-33, but they also had a couple of key defenders go down during the game.

The worst of it was for starting edge Uchenna Nwosu , who missed half of last season with a pectoral issue that required surgery. On the opening drive Nwosu was was about to lay a big hit on Jameis Winston in the pocket, but Browns guard Wyatt Teller dived at his knees to stop him. The low hit earned a 15-yard penalty, but it was enough to knock Nwosu out of the game. After it was over, head coach Mike Macdonald told the media that he wasn't sure yet of Nwosu's status and that he'll get looked at today.

If Nwosu has to miss significant time, the next man up in the rotation will be second-year edge rusher Derick Hall, who was just promoted in the wake of Darrell Taylor getting traded to the Chicago Bears. Hall has performed quite well this month, for what it's worth.

Cornerback Artie Burns also suffered a foot injury at one point and had to be carted off the field after getting evaluated on the sidelines. He was not wearing a cleat on his left foot.

Burns had projected as the first backup in the slot behind Devon Witherspoon . Rookie D.J. James would be the next man up assuming he makes the initial 53-man roster, but that's no guarantee given his struggles during the preseason.
