Alisson Becker on Liverpool contract commitment and Saudi Pro League rejection

Liverpool star Alisson Becker has opened up on his determination to stay at Anfield after rejecting a move to the Saudi Pro League.

A host of Alisson's former Reds teammates made the move to the Middle East, including former captain Jordan Henderson, alongside Gini Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

However, despite the temptation of swapping Merseyside for the Middle East, Alisson's commitment lies with Arne Slot as new era kicks off for Liverpool.

"I want to honour my contract and finish it here or make a new one. I'm really happy here. My family is happy too", as per quotes from BBC Sport .

"I never got to the point where I was talking about wages and things like that. It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That's normal."

Alisson's current Liverpool deal runs until 2027, and the Brazilian international has been No.1 for the Reds, since making a 2018 move to Anfield from Serie A side AS Roma.

His performances as part of Jurgen Klopp's team secured a UEFA Champions League title in 2019 and a first-ever Premier League crown in 2020, split across 264 appearances for the club.

Liverpool are rumoured to be closing in on a deal to sign Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, as a long-term successor to Alisson, which could spell the end of Caoimhin Kelleher's time at the club.

The Republic of Ireland international has played a deputy role to Alisson in recent years but he is looking to move on in search of first team football before the EPL transfer window closes on August 30.
