Zach Wilson leaves no doubt about what Broncos should do at QB in preseason finale

Coming into the last preseason game of the year, one of the biggest questions surrounding the Denver Broncos was associated with the quarterback position. Will the team keep all three quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster?

Zach Wilson seems to have put a resounding yes answer to that question.

Wilson took over shortly into Sunday's contest against the Arizona Cardinals. Jarrett Stidham made the start and played one series, leading the Broncos on a touchdown drive. Wilson then played the rest of the game and, in a word, looked fantastic.

Wilson went 16-of-25 passing for 251 yards and two touchdowns, putting on display a dazzling effort that reminded fans why he was once the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

Wilson made some pretty throws and it was obvious he was having fun out there. Has he done enough to stick around in Denver?

The Broncos can't justify cutting Zach Wilson

If you accept that Stidham is going to be the No. 2 quarterback, there is still no way that the team can just cut Wilson after the way he has looked this preseason.

He was seemingly out of the race for the starting job shortly into camp, but he gathered himself and put forth the best effort anyone could expect in the team's three preseason games. Whether the Broncos hold onto Wilson for trade bait or simply to allow him to develop with the team, letting him go in favor of an additional defensive back or special teams player would just be bad roster management.

The upside of Wilson is considerably higher than that of Stidham who is, at best, a decent backup quarterback. Holding onto Wilson has a chance to pay dividends down the road, bigger than any back-end roster player is going to provide in the more immediate future.

The Broncos need to keep all three quarterbacks on the team. It's gone from an interesting question to an obvious answer.
