The New York Giants announced their first wave of roster cuts ahead of Tuesday's deadline.

Parting ways with 12 players in total during the first wave of transactions, there was a notable name in the mix as it pertains to the first draft class of Joe Schoen's tenure as general manager.

The Giants waived offensive lineman Marcus McKethan, who was a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

After struggling to make a positive impact during his first two seasons and then struggling mightily throughout training camp and the preseason this month, it was a long shot for McKethan to make the roster.

The addition of several veterans including Jermaine Eluemunor, Jon Runyan, Aaron Stinnie and Greg Van Roten already made it difficult for McKethan to make it.

In addition to McKethan, the Giants waived wide receiver Ayir Asante, defensive tackle Kyler Baugh, cornerback Christian Holmes, safety Clayton Isbell, wide receiver John Jiles, linebacker Trey Kiser and running back Lorenzo Lingard.

They also released a group of vested veterans, including cornerback Breon Borders and running back Joshua Kelley.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Timmy Horne and safety Jonathan Sutherland were waived/injured.
