The Tennessee Titans have been without wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for quite some time now after the veteran wideout suffered a knee injury at practice earlier in training camp.

According to Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky , Hopkins suffered a strained knee in late July and was originally given a timetable of four to six weeks to recover from the injury.

With Week 1 rapidly approaching, Hopkins' status for the start of the regular season remains up in the air, but head coach Brian Callahan did give a positive update on the star receiver last week that breeds hope he will get back in time.

According to ESPN's Turron Davenport , the team is aiming for Hopkins to be ready to go by the Sunday, Sept. 8 season opener against the Chicago Bears .

Ideally, Hopkins returns to practice sooner rather than later, but he's still got close to two weeks to get right. Even if he doesn't return to practice this week, Hopkins would still have an entire week of practices to get ready for Week 1, which is plenty of time for him to get back in the swing of things.

Hopkins showed he had plenty left in the tank last season, finishing with 75 catches for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns. Bear in mind, he didn't really get going until quarterback Will Levis took over as the starter in Week 8. Now, he'll have a full season with Levis, so it stands to reason he could improve upon those numbers.

The biggest concern for Hopkins is that he'll have a lot more competition for targets after the team added Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd in free agency.

However, Tennessee is also moving to a more pass-heavy offense under Callahan, and he's got great chemistry with Levis already, so he should, at the very least, still be as productive as he was last season.
