Manchester United have officially sealed the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could reach up to £50.7 million ($66.8m).

The transfer comes after weeks of negotiations and an agreement on personal terms in July, with the 23-year-old midfielder set to join the Red Devils after just one year in Paris.

Ugarte, who always had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford, is expected to arrive in Manchester on Tuesday to complete his medical and finalize the deal.

The Uruguayan midfielder only wanted United, and it seems United only wanted him.

Ugarte set to bolster United’s midfield

PSG initially demanded the full £51.1 million (€60m/$67.4m) they paid Sporting Lisbon last summer, but the clubs compromised to ensure the deal went through. The final agreement includes a £42.2 million ($55.6m) upfront fee, with an additional £8.5 million ($11.2m) in performance-related add-ons.

Ugarte’s move to Manchester United was made possible by the recent sales of Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos and Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley.

These departures created the necessary space in Erik ten Hag’s squad for the dynamic midfielder, who led Ligue 1 in tackles last season despite starting just 21 games.

With Ugarte’s arrival, United fans can expect a tenacious and hardworking player ready to make an impact in the Premier League. His addition is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the midfield as United looks to compete for trophies in this season.
