It's time for the Commanders to make another wide receiver trade

The Washington Commanders surprised many when they traded 2022 first-round pick Jahan Dotson to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles, leaving a whole at receiver opposite of Terry McLaurin.

While they drafted Luke McCaffrey, he will likely be a mainstay in the slot. Dyami Brown made some waves in the preseason, and may be getting that No. 2 job on the boundary, but Washington should at the very least acquire a veteran that has a high ceiling as insurance. Luckily for them, there are two that are rumored to be available.

Tim Patrick is expected to be traded or released by the Denver Broncos, according to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver. The veteran hasn't played a regular season game since 2021 due to consecutive season-ending injuries ahead of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. A Day Three pick may be enough to acquire the reliable receiver.

John Metchie is another name expected to be on the move. Houston currently has arguably the largest collection of good receivers in the NFL. The Alabama product is unfortunately stuck behind Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs on the depth chart. He has the potential to be a capable No. 2 receiver in the league, and a trade would be worth doing for Washington.

You can't have enough weapons in today's NFL, and the Commanders should do all they can to bring in another capable receiver.
