Las Vegas Raiders land promising young quarterback in trade proposal

With the Las Vegas Raiders having an uncertain situation at the quarterback position ahead of the 2024 campaign, one NFL analyst believes the team should trade for Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent if he becomes available.

That NFL analyst is Bleacher Report's Alex Kay , who has the Raiders trading a 2025 fifth-round pick to the Bears for the second-year signal-caller.

Here's what Kay says about the proposed deal:

Vegas could take an unconventional path to finding one by trading for a current backup right before the campaign kicks off. Tyson Bagent has been having a phenomenal preseason and has shown enough over the last few weeks to inspire confidence that he could be a starter in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Bagent, his chances of emerging as a QB1 in Chicago are exceedingly low due to the presence of Caleb Williams. With almost no chance of usurping the No. 1 overall pick on the depth chart, the Bears could instead capitalize on their backup's rapidly improving value by dealing Bagent to a desperate squad like the Raiders.

Bagent managed to show some flashes in five games (four starts) last season, and he is coming off a preseason showing in which he impressed, competing 17-of-25 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns.

That said, Bagent is no less of a question mark than both Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell, so he really wouldn't move the needle. The Raiders would have to be very high on Bagent to bring him in, especially for a fifth-round pick.

The Raiders are better off just staying the course for now, barring a major upgrade becoming available on the trade market. If things with Minshew and O'Connell do not pan out, Las Vegas can try its hand at landing a franchise signal-caller again in 2025.
