Steelers trade for stud wide receiver in massive deal proposed by NFL analyst

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a few holes to shore up ahead of the 2024 campaign, and one of them is most certainly at the wide receiver position.

Aside from No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens, the Steelers are sporting a slew of question marks, with guys like Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin and rookie Roman Wilson expected to have significant roles.

In order to upgrade the position for 2024, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has the Steelers landing San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk in a proposed deal that sends San Fran two 2025 picks, one in the second and one in the third.

Here's Kay's view on the trade:

If the Steelers do land Aiyuk, they'll feature one of the league's most dangerous passing attacks. Aiyuk has developed into a legitimate star over the last two seasons, including in 2023 when he racked up 75 receptions for a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns while helping lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance.

Getting that type of talent for the reasonable cost of both Day 2 draft picks and an extension that will likely ring up around $30 million per year will be well worth it for a Pittsburgh squad that direly needs a boost on offense.

Kay borrows the trade compensation in his write-up from Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle , who reported that the Steelers are offering the two aforementioned picks.

It goes without saying how massive of a deal this would be for Pittsburgh. The  duo of Pickens and Aiyuk would be one of the better ones in all of football and would greatly increase the chances that either Russell Wilson of Justin Fields succeed.

Of course, the Steelers have been pursuing Aiyuk for some time now, but things have been at a standstill for awhile. Hopefully we get a conclusion to this saga sooner rather than later because it has been absolute torture for both fanbases.
