The Pittsburgh Steelers have been without rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson in practice for quite some time now due to injury, but he showed yet another sign of progress in his quest to return for Week 1.

According to video from Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com , Wilson was taking part in individual drills, one of which involved pool noodles, interestingly enough. It is the first time Wilson has taken part in individual drills since suffering his injury.

Wilson suffered a sprained ankle in late July and has been sidelined ever since. He was originally considered week-to-week, leaving his status up in the air for Week 1.

However, in the last two practices he's been able to do some light jogging and now is back in individual drills, so it appears he's on track to be ready for the season-opener.

What kind of role Wilson has in Week 1 remains to be seen, though. He was having a strong training camp before injuring his ankle but missed a ton of practice time, which is never good for a rookie's hopes of contributing immediately.

It should be expected that he'll have a limited role out of the gate, with George Pickens, Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin being the team's top-three receivers. That said, it isn't likely to be long before Wilson is more involved.
