Red Sox are high on the list of landing spots for two-time Cy Young winner

The Boston Red Sox were named as a top destination for two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell, per Bleacher Report . The Sox were sixth on the list out of ten possible destinations.

Snell is a monster, and he has been having another solid year. This year with the San Francisco Giants, Snell has an ERA of 3.76, has a win/loss of 2-3, and has 106 strikeouts. To be fair to Snell, he's on one of the more mediocre teams in the MLB, and he has dealt with multiple injuries this season, limiting his starts and abilities. The year before, when Snell won his second Cy Young, he had an ERA of 2.25, a win/loss of 14-9 and 234 strikeouts.

Snell has an opt-out for the end of this season, so he can walk if he wants to. He would command a ton of money, but due to his performance and availability this season, he might not get as much as he’s truly worth, which is good for the Sox.

The Sox’s pitching this year has been truly abysmal, and aside from three or four guys, have no real talent. Snell was a top target last year for the Sox but they didn’t want to pay him, and now that he might be worth less, the Sox may actually target him in the offseason.

If the Sox do get him, they need to get one more stud starter, such as Max Fried or Jack Flaherty, and then sign or trade for a bunch of really good relievers, they could be locked in as playoff contenders. With their current offense and an upgrade in pitching, they could be a terrifying force.
