Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft projection: Where will Colorado QB be picked in deep 2025 QB class?

Whether you like him or not, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is one of the most captivating players in college football.

The Buffaloes had their share of issues up and down the roster in Deion Sanders' first season as head coach, but quarterback generally wasn't the problem. The younger Sanders threw just three interceptions and completed just under 70 percent of passes, with Colorado scoring more than 25 points in seven different games.

Sanders wasn't perfect, either. He took an obscene amount of sacks, which some observers have attributed to 22-year-old holding onto the ball for too long and, in many cases, not throwing the ball away when a play isn't developing.

In a fairly deep quarterback class that lacks an obvious choice at No. 1, however, Sanders is looking to emerge in his final collegiate season.

Here's a look at Sanders' NFL Draft projection and where he ranks among draft-eligible quarterbacks in 2025.

Sanders is widely projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, though he's not the consensus No. 1 overall prospect.

While some mock drafts project Sanders as the No. 1 pick or a contender for the No. 1 pick, other overall rankings and projections have the Colorado star behind Georgia's Carson Beck and players from different positions.

NFL Mock Draft Database , which compiles dozens of big boards, finds that Sanders is the consensus No. 6 player and No. 2 QB in the 2025 NFL Draft, behind Michigan CB Will Johnson, Colorado teammate Travis Hunter, Michigan DL Mason Graham, Missouri WR Luther Burden III and Beck.

Mock drafts can be tough to find eight months before the start of the NFL Draft, but a few major ones are indicating that Sanders is entering the season as a projected top-10 pick. Where exactly he would fall in the first round is up for debate.

The 33rd Team insider Marcus Mosher projects Sanders to go No. 1 overall to the Giants, reinforcing that a strong season from the Buffaloes quarterback could put him firmly in the mix for that top pick.

Meanwhile, ESPN's Field Yates has the Titans taking Sanders with the No. 4 pick in his latest mock draft and CBS Sports' latest mock draft projects Sanders as the No. 8 pick to the Saints.

    2025 NFL Draft QB rankings

Here's how the 2025 draft-eligible quarterbacks break down, according to NFL Mock Draft Database's consensus rankings :

    Rank Player School Overall
    1 Carson Beck Georgia 5
    2 Shedeur Sanders Colorado 6
    3 Conner Weigman Texas A&M 27
    4 Quinn Ewers Texas 36
    5 Jalen Milroe Alabama 43
6 Drew Allar Penn State 51
7 Jaxson Dart Ole Miss 65
    8 Cameron Ward Miami 72

It's only the start of the season, so rankings vary. That's especially true for Ewers, who is projected to be a top-15 pick in some predictions while others don't even have him as a first-round prospect.

Beck and Sanders are the only two quarterbacks who could be called consensus top-10 or even first-round prospects at this point, but plenty can change as the 2024 season plays out.
