Dodgers could hire new manager away from National League foe this winter

The Los Angeles Dodgers could fire manager Dave Roberts in the event of an early playoff exit.

Reports have been circulating lately that Roberts's seat is growing warm , and the pressure is on to advance deep into the playoffs.

If Los Angeles falls short of expectations and does can Roberts, they could soon be in touch with the 2023 National League Manager of the Year, whose deal with the Miami Marlins expires after this season.

Will Skip Schumaker be the next manager of the Dodgers? A new report from Bleacher Report’s Brandon Scott suggests that Schumaker would be an excellent candidate for the position.

"The 44-year-old (Schumaker) had a team option for the 2025 season, but he negotiated it out of his contract last winter, making him a free agent at the end of this campaign," Scott said.

"The Marlins would still be interested in his services if he was interested in providing them. However, considering the number of managerial openings expected this offseason and Schumaker's wide popularity after winning 2023 NL Manager of the Year, he should be a prime candidate for a better opportunity."

"Schumaker is probably monitoring the firings around MLB and counting down the days until his phone can start ringing."

It sure sounds like Schumaker would jump at the opportunity to take the helm of one of Major League Baseball's most historic clubs.
