Sancho’s move to Chelsea looks imminent as Man Utd deal hinges on Arsenal's Sterling interest

Jadon Sancho’s potential transfer to Chelsea is gathering momentum as the clock ticks down on the transfer deadline.

Reports suggest that Manchester United and Chelsea are getting closer to finalizing a deal that would see Sancho move to Stamford Bridge.

Sancho is expected to leave Manchester United on deadline day, with Chelsea emerging as the primary contender for his signature.

While European giants Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund have been linked with the 24-year-old this summer, it appears that Chelsea is the most realistic destination.

Arsenal’s Sterling decision influences Sancho’s future

United paid £73 million ($96m) to bring Sancho from Borussia Dortmund three years ago, but he has struggled to meet expectations.

After falling out with manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho spent the latter part of last season on loan at his former club. Despite their recent reconciliation, it seems the move was primarily aimed at boosting Sancho’s market value.

Manchester United initially set a £50 million ($66m) asking price for Sancho but are now reportedly willing to accept around £25 million ($33m) or even consider a loan deal due to the urgency of the situation.

Chelsea are also in the market for a new striker, with top targets Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney both linked with moves to Saudi Arabian side Al Ahly. However, the Blues are also working on acquiring Sancho, which hinges on the future of Raheem Sterling.

Sterling, deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, is a target for Arsenal. Should Arsenal proceed with signing Sterling, it would free up Chelsea to finalize Sancho’s transfer. If not, Chelsea might pull back from their pursuit of Sancho.

Sky Sports reports that an agreement between Manchester United and Chelsea is "edging closer," with discussions involving both permanent and loan options. Chelsea’s ability to secure Sancho is directly tied to their efforts to offload Sterling, and current indications suggest that Sterling may either stay at Chelsea or join Arsenal.
