Cornerbacks Las Vegas Raiders should target after letting Brandon Facyson go

The Las Vegas Raiders ' depth at the cornerback position is subpar, and the unit took another hit on Thursday when the team moved on from oft-injured veteran Brandon Facyson. The 29-year-old reached an injury settlement with the Raiders and was subsequently cut from injured reserve.

But depth isn't the only issue, as the Raiders also have a question mark at one of their starting spots in second-year cornerback Jakorian Bennett.

With the Raiders lacking experience and proven depth in the secondary, adding a cornerback in free agency before Week 1 kicks off on September 8th would be a smart move by general manager Tom Telesco.

That said, here are a few cornerbacks Las Vegas should target to aid their shaky depth at the position.

Cornerbacks Las Vegas Raiders should target

    Ahkello Witherspoon

Witherspoon had a solid season for the Rams in 2023, starting all 17 games, snagging three interceptions, and allowing a 76.7 passer rating when targeted. The 29-year-old has started 57 of the 77 games he's played in during his seven-year career and has posted 11 interceptions.

Witherspoon won't be a massive difference-maker, but he's one of the best available cornerbacks on the free-agent market and provides Las Vegas with a depth corner with starting experience.

    Adoree' Jackson

A rough 2023 campaign consisting of a 45.9 coverage grade and a 98.3 passer rating when targeted has caused Jackson to remain unsigned heading into September.

Jackson struggled last season but is just two years removed from a solid 2022 season with the New York Giants , when he posted a 71.5 coverage grade and an 85.3 passer rating when targeted.

The former first-round pick out of USC has started 77 games in his career and also has some potential in the return game. The 28-year-old is still an adequate depth corner who can be a starter when needed.

    J.C. Jackson

Just three years ago, Jackson snagged eight interceptions and deflected a league-high 23 passes. Now, the 28-year-old is jobless and seeking an opportunity to revive his career.

Though Jackson has been atrocious over the last two seasons and is suspended for the first game of the season, taking a flyer on the former Super Bowl champion would be a clever move by Telesco.

Jackson won't be thrust into a prominent role and would receive a chance to resurrect a career that seemed destined for greatness just two-and-a-half years ago.
