Injured Patriots offensive lineman provides an update on his status

The New England Patriots will take the field for their first regular season game of the Jerod Mayo era just over a week from now at Paycor Stadium against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

At this point, the Patriots don't know what their starting offensive line will look like for the Week 1 matchup due to multiple injuries to their big guys up front.

Projected starting left tackle Vederian Lowe has been out with an oblique injury for a bit now, and left guard Sidy Sow suffered an ankle injury in the team's preseason finale that forced him to leave the stadium in a walking boot.

New England has experimented with other line combinations since then, but it's not clear who will be the five that take the field with starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Recently, Lowe provided an update on his injury that was somewhat positive.

“It’s definitely short term. Not long term at all,” Lowe said (via. MassLive ). “I’m good, man. I’m just rehabbing every single day. Working, trying to get back healthy.”

Lowe, 25, was a sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. New England sent Minnesota a sixth-round pick for him last year, and he appeared in 11 games for the Patriots, starting eight of them with 236 snaps at left tackle and 239 at right.

Pro Football Focus gave Lowe a 41.7 grade in 2023, the third-lowest of any qualified tackle (ahead of only Evan Neal and Jaelyn Duncan).

If Lowe is healthy, it doesn't mean the unit is good to go because the group has struggled even with the former Fighting Illini in games and training camp sessions. However, at least it would be a line that the team has consistently rolled out there and guys aren't moving around.
