Raiders cornerbacks depth chart: Where Las Vegas stands ahead of Week 1

    By Mike Moraitis,

The Las Vegas Raiders already had a shaky situation at the cornerback position ahead of the 2024 campaign, but the team placing Brandon Facyson on injured reserve and then parting ways with him via an injury settlement has only made things worse.

Granted, Facyson wasn't some great player, but he did offer the Raiders some solid depth, which was important because Las Vegas doesn't have a sure thing in one of its two starters on the boundary in Jakorian Bennett, who is coming off a brutal rookie campaign.

The team has since signed veteran cornerback Darnay Holmes , who will provide a decent depth option, but most of his work has come from the slot and he has played very little on the boundary.

Let's take a look at the Raiders' cornerbacks depth chart and go from there.

    Raiders cornerbacks depth chart

    Position Starter Backup
    CB1 Jack Jones Decamerion Richardson
    CB2 Jakorian Bennett
CB3 (slot) Nate Hobbs Darnay Holmes

Cornerbacks on the practice squad: Sam Webb, M.J. Devonshire

Las Vegas' situation at cornerback is rough, to say the least. They are solid with Jones and Hobbs, but as we said with Bennett, he's a question mark. The depth isn't good, either, as the Raiders are depending on a rookie and a slot specialist who is coming off one of his worst seasons.

Webb had a solid preseason finale, but he's hardly a reliable option if called upon. Devonshire struggled during exhibition play and is even shakier.

It's clear as day that the Raiders need to add another veteran to this group, and one who has a ton of experience playing on the boundary. Our Dharya Sharma recently suggested three realistic options for the team to explore, which you can check out right here .

While it remains to be seen who the Raiders will bring in, we do know that general manager Tom Telesco cannot sit on his hands here. The Raiders are an injury or a poor performance away from having a serious issue at cornerback, which could greatly hinder what is a potentially elite defense that will be the team's strength.
