Ex-Packers quarterback lands in AFC East after getting cut by Texans

There has been plenty of movement across the National Football League over the last week and there will be even more of the next week.

Hundreds of players became available as franchises had to trim down their rosters to 53 players by the league's deadline. Now, the 2024 regular season is less than a week away from kicking off and now there are hundreds of more free agents looking for more opportunities on active rosters or even practice squads.

One former member of the Green Bay Packers recently found a new opportunity after getting cut by the Houston Texans. Veteran quarterback Tim Boyle spent some time with the Texans throughout the summer but was released as the Texans trimmed down their roster.

He wasn't available for long, though, as he signed with the Miami Dolphins' practice squad, according to Sports Illustrated's Alain Poupart.

"The Miami Dolphins have a new third quarterback, and it's another one whose last regular-season action was with the New York Jets," Poupart said. "(General manager) Chris Grier revealed Wednesday that the team has signed veteran Tim Boyle to the practice squad.

"After they released veteran Mike White on Sunday, the Dolphins were down to two quarterbacks — Tua Tagovailoa and Skylar Thompson. White, who also joined the Dolphins after playing for the Jets, has joined the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills, another AFC East team."

Boyle began his National Football League career with the Packers in 2019 and spent the first two seasons of his career in Green Bay. Since then, he's spent time with the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets.
