Washington Commanders signing hyped as steal for Jayden Daniels-led offense

Did the Washington Commanders stumble into the steal of the waiver wire period after final cuts?

Those Commanders signed wide receiver Noah Brown this past week and some experts have already circled it in red ink as a fantastic move by the organization.

One of those experts even called it one of the biggest talking points exiting the preseason, with Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon writing the following:

“New receiver Noah Brown goes way back with both Terry McLaurin and Dan Quinn, and he has the ability to flourish for Jayden Daniels. I really think his signing could go down as a superb under-the-radar late-summer move.”

The move surely registered as a pleasant surprise for fans who were likely a little dumbfounded at the wideout approach around Jayden Daniels after trading away Jahan Dotson.

But Brown is a pretty sneaky addition to the depth chart as a former seventh-round pick in 2017 who has proven productive in the pros and has prior connections to the Commanders. He was Terry McLaurin’s teammate at Ohio State, plus he spent time with Quinn in Dallas. Injuries will be a question after he struggled to stay healthy in Houston this summer, but the positives certainly seem appealing.

Brown might not unseat Dyami Brown quickly and the Commanders will still want Luke McCaffrey to develop alongside Daniels, sure. But the good-looking value signing could pay off in a big way, both for the developing franchise passer and perhaps in the immediate standings.
