Dalvin Cook alludes to Jets' dysfunction in Aaron Rodgers injury aftermath

It was far from the best of times for Dalvin Cook and the New York Jets last year, so it's understandable if the veteran running back still carries a bit of frustration from the experiment gone wrong.

Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Minnesota Vikings , signed with the Jets 12 months ago, expecting to make a run at the Super Bowl alongside future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Obviously, the circumstances changed drastically when Rodgers tore his left Achilles four offensive snaps into the 2023 season opener.

After joining the Dallas Cowboys this past week, the 29-year-old Cook fielded a question about his Jets tenure while addressing reporters.

"I don't really want to speak on the situation. When Aaron went down Play 4, I think everything was just a little bit different. It wasn't no emergency plan. We didn't know. Aaron went down Play 4, and it was just kinda like what do we do? That's just what it was," said the 2017 second-round draft pick.

Cook was used sparingly by the Jets, taking a back seat to Breece Hall. He saw only 202 offensive snaps, carrying 67 times for 214 yards before being released in Week 18.

"Last season, I wasn't really able to start working out until almost the end, towards the end of the offseason because I was having to rehab my shoulder so much," said Cook, who never seemed to get his legs under him during his short stint with Gang Green.

The Jets finished 7-10 overall as Cook averaged only 3.2 yards per carry. He did not score a touchdown.
