In a press release issued July 3, commissioner Anthony Holloman said he was grateful to allow those programs to compete at such a high level, especially given such a prestigious stage like ESPN as its backdrop.

“Our continued relationship with ESPN represents a significant milestone for the SIAC,” Holloman said. “This collaboration underscores our unwavering commitment to enhancing the visibility of our member institutions while amplifying the voices and exceptional talents of our student-athletes. As we embark on our fourth year with ESPN, we eagerly anticipate the competitive fervor and inspiring moments that will define the essence of the 2024 season.”

The opening matchup between Morehouse and Edward Waters pits two teams that went in opposite directions last season. EWU will look to maintain success, as it finished 6-4 with wins against Morehouse, Lane College and Tuskegee University, to name a few. Meanwhile, Morehouse will attempt to find moderate success, as it came off a forgettable one-win season last year.

SIAC preseason projections see Edward Waters finishing sixth, while Morehouse is expected to finish at the bottom of the league overall.
