Ole Miss begins its highly anticipated 2024 season against Furman on Saturday afternoon.

On the heels of their first-ever 11-win season, the Rebels are ranked sixth in the AP Top 25 preseason poll. That's the program's highest preseason ranking since 1970.

Lane Kiffin's squad is buoyed by its high-powered offense, including senior quarterback Jaxson Dart. The one-time USC quarterback threw for 23 touchdowns last season, and has plenty of weapons to utilize, including senior Tre Harris, last year's leading-receiver.

The Rebels re-stocked in the transfer portal, too. Ole Miss reeled in the highest-ranked group of transfers, with the crop of 25 players headlined by former Texas A&M defensive tackle Walter Nolan, the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 freshman class.

While an FCS school, Furman is hardly a pushover. The Paladins have rattled off back-to-back 10-win seasons under SoCon Coach of the Year Clay Hendrix. Still, this is a new-look Furman squad, one that returns just seven starters from last year's group.

The two programs have only met once before, way back in 1924: A 7-2 victory for Furman.
