Brian Kelly goes viral with violent rant after LSU loses to USC in Las Vegas

Brian Kelly was an angry man after LSU lost 27-20 against USC in the Tigers’ neutral-site matchup at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Kelly slammed the desk in anger as he criticized his team for making him get up at the podium during yet another Week 1 postgame press conference and explain the defensive lapses and stalled drives.

"It's the first time since I've been here (at LSU) that I'm angry at my football team,” Kelly said Sunday night. "I'm not doing a good enough job as a coach ... it's unacceptable for us not to have found a way to win this football game. We’re sitting here AGAIN and talking about the same things."

LSU gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns to concede a 17-13 lead. Ultimately, Miller Moss out-gamed Garrett Nussmeier and led his team down the stretch in a way the Tigers QB couldn’t. Moss was the superior redshirt junior in nearly every way.

Brian Kelly cannot stall out at LSU for his long-term security’s sake

Kelly leading LSU to the SEC Championship game during his first season in LSU set up gaudy expectations for the rest of his run in Baton Rouge.

While the Tigers weren’t an SEC title away from reaching the College Football Playoff, just reaching the title game by beating Alabama in Death Valley was a major feather in his cap.

The 2023 season didn’t follow up on that excitement. LSU was clearly behind the Crimson Tide in the last season of the SEC division structure as a whole

Another step back in 2024 can have Kelly’s seat warm in 2025. Of course, too much losing this year can expedite the arrival of that heat.
