The New York Giants signed veteran fullback Jakob Johnson to the practice squad and released wide receiver Miles Boykin, the team announced Monday .

Johnson has been cut and signed three times since the Giants initially trimmed the roster down to 53 players last week.

The veteran fullback was released during the initial roster cuts and then signed to the practice squad roster the following day. Then, Johnson was signed to the active roster after center Austin Schlottmann was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

He was then released again to make room for the Adoree' Jackson signing over the weekend. Now, Johnson is back on the practice squad.

The Giants liked Boykin as a special teams option at gunner, but he didn't survive the initial cuts last week.

The former third-round pick hasn't done much as a wide receiver since joining the NFL in 2019 with the Baltimore Ravens .

There's a chance he's back on the practice squad at some point but for now, the Giants are opting to keep Johnson in the mix for a potential elevation in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings .
