Texas A&M had no luck against the Fighting Irish in a 10-point loss

Conner Weigman, third-year quarterback for Texas A&M , had a very forgettable night against the Fighting Irish in front of his home crowd and a national television audience Saturday night.

Weigman completed just 40 percent of his passes with no touchdowns and 2 INTs. And, it appeared that Weigman got somewhat of a pass from Texas A&M coach Mike Elko when he addressed the media at the post-game presser.

“We got to go back to the tape and find out to put him in better situations to get him comfortable,” Elko said. “He was not in rhythm, and there was nothing easy. We kept trying. Just couldn’t get there.”

Elko threw his entire team under the bus, saying they were disappointing.

“I told the locker room for us to get this program over the hump, we have to put ourselves in the position to play the game the way we need to,” Elko said. “And we didn’t do that tonight.”

Elko said Weigman could not get on track.

“The challenge tonight was they were going to play us in man all night. So there’s not a lot of easy access throws to get him comfortable and get him in rhythm. People are going to have to win to do that, and we just weren’t able to get it going,” Elko said.

Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard , a transfer who played under Elko at Duke last season, completed 60 percent of his passes but had zero turnovers in the victory. The Aggies will need to regroup as they prepare to host McNeese on Saturday.
