The Boston Red Sox have been fighting for the final Wild Card spot in the American League over the last month, but things have started to unravel.

Since the All-Star break, Boston has gone just 17-25, as they have won three games in a row just once during that stretch and have three losing streaks of at least three or more.

The Red Sox have lost their last three games, slipping to 4.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals for that last spot in the playoffs.

After Monday's loss to the New York Mets in the series opener, Red Sox manager Alex Cora spoke about the importance of Tuesday's game and getting back in the win column.

“We’ve gotta show up tomorrow and try to win a game, man,” Cora said ( via. MassLive ). “We’re running out of time. Let’s put it that way. I know what the other teams are doing. They’re not playing well either. But the days that we don’t take advantage of it is a wasted day. So we’ve got to come here and find a way to win a game tomorrow.”

If things don't turn around soon, Boston could continue to slide and may even find themselves falling behind the Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays in the division, and that would be disastrous.
